It's here with the racing where the game really shines. Each and every bike leaves a trail behind them as they carve their individual routes across the surface - this isn't just a visual aesthetic, the track is really being altered over the course of the race, which has consequences for the riders. Dry tracks have dust trails and clouds, with stones and gravel being scattered as the bikes race across them. The surface looks better and wet tracks glisten and kick up mud, coating both the rider and bikes. On and around the track there are more details that add to the realism. It is the tracks that have benefitted most. The bikes already looked fantastic but there is now a greater level of detail on the riders as they race. Graphically, the game looks sharper than any of the previous titles. It may have been a difficult decision to move away from its own proprietary engine but it has paid dividends. The tracks have been captured in all of their muddy and dirt-ridden glory and the game includes all 18 circuits from the 2016 season it's here that you immediately begin to see the changes that have been possible using the new Unreal engine. Fans will recognize the riders, teams, liveries, manufacturers and the sponsors. It has listened to fans and includedīoth 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines so there are plenty of bikes from which to choose. The number of options is limited, but as the rider is usually covered with a helmet and leathers, it seems inconsequential. It makes for a fascinating spectator sport and it's this essence that Milestone has tried to capture in the latest MXGP title.Īs always at the start, players are given the opportunity to create their own rider.
Watching the riders struggle to control their motorcycles through ever deepening trenches of mud, fighting to keep their bikes under control with the increasingly unpredictable quagmires that the corners and bends become. However, it is the way that the circuits cut up and change during the course of a race that makes it so interesting.
The circuits feature bumps and mounds that launch the bikes into spectacular jumps, and short but steep hill climbs and descents. Motocross is motorcycle racing around off-road circuits, usually dirt, gravel, sand or mud.
